A Quaker and The Aging Maven, she has been known to stand on both sides of the political and philosophic fence at the same time, which is very uncomfortable when you think about it. She writes about pretty much whatever stops in to visit her busy mind at the moment. One reader described her as "incredibly opinionated but not judgmental." That sounds like a good thing to strive for!

(Illinois) wasn't quite as stumbly-sounding as yours through UW-Madison, I had the same response to my visit to SOAR last summer. While I have fond memories, probably softenend by time, of feeling my way independently through the faceless U. and somehow coming out the other end a graduate, I'm glad that today's UW-Madison is doing a better job of informing. It felt a little over-orchestrated, but it was good of those in charge to address the questions about finances, safety, class schedules and other important matters that both parents are students are wondering about.

My son's first year at UW was a great success...all the best to your son!
