The Charisma Factor

Although I've been a registered voter since the age of eighteen, yesterday was the first time that I voted in a primary election for president.  Frankly, I haven't really cared much before, at least at this initial level, but this election excites me on many different levels.  I wanted to do my part to help my pick get on the ticket.  I hope you did too.

As The Spouse constantly likes to point out to me, I am drawn to people who have "presence" on the platform.  That is why I was particularly intrigued by a recent article at nytimes.com, The Charisma Mandate.

*************

As I was watching the election returns last night, I noticed that John Edwards, Ed Thompson, and, Rudy Giuliani all received votes.   I don't understand that.  Are they votes to signal dissatisfaction with the current slate of candidates?  Aren't you just "wasting" your vote when you cast it for someone not even in the race?

Ah no Roxanne, the continuing votes for Edwards, Thompson and Giuliani are signs of profound delusional thinking occasionally experienced by some of our resident SUVers. They are so spoiled and used to getting their way in life that they have become unable to adjust to the reality of life outside of the mud of Woodstock.

These same folks can be seen voting for the exact same non-candidates in the November election next fall. And the day after the election they can be seen in person marching to and fro at city hall demanding a recount.

Eventually there guardians come by, pick them up and drive them down to their shrinks to get lithium level adjustments good till the next election.

Charisma won't pay your bills or protect this country. Obama has done absolutely nothing of consequence in his brief political career. If it's "change" you want, Obama will certainly bring it. If only he would be specific about what and how. He is a dangerous individual to be leading this country. Hopefully you won't see this happen. But if we have become a nation of uneducated, needful, self-interested automatons, then remember how and when it started.

The New York Times is about as far left news print as you can get. They will never support conservatism. Just a really bad piece of hollering from the left. To support Obama or Hillary is right up there alley. Both candidates have no plans, just change to what ???, they don't even know. What a frightening mess.

FDR was the worst President we ever had because he really got the ball rolling on the welfare state that we are now addicted to.  All the youngsters are drawn like a moth to the flame by the baloney being spit out by Obama.  If he gets a Senate with 60 votes, you'll find out how much his "charisma" is going to cost you.  Don't be fooled by appearances...look at the record and decide if you really want to pay the bill.  Remember "government" is you when it comes to paying the bills or suffering inflation caused by government just printing more worthless money like they are doing with these stupid rebates.  Change you can believe in?  Nothing but b.s.
