I laughed out loud reading that alderman Radish is complaining about the design of a proposed kidney dialysis center in our fashionable downtown. I don't know what his view of good architecture is, but I assume he voted for the fire-station design and the bus station. Draw your own conclusions because beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
How about letting the public get involved in these long term decisions more? A good start would be putting the design on the city's website and let the citizens contact their aldermen with their thoughts. Better would be giving a provision that a person could just vote themselves, though I know it would be difficult to keep it honest.
With the increase in diabetes within our society, the need for dialysis increases too. It is very fitting that it is to located in a highly visible area. Perhaps it will serve as a reminder to those on their way to a restaurant or out for frozen custard that payback might be a lounge chair at the dialysis center.
