Mexican Hot Chocolate

By St. Mary Parish School

As part of the Spanish Curriculum the students at St. Mary’s are learning “Buenos modales” - good manners to practice when someone from another culture offers us a new food.

The 8th Grade Spanish classes had a food tasting and tried:
  • Mexican hot chocolate (it has a little bit of cinnamon)
  • Platanos fritos - fried green plantation chips (a little like potato chips)
  • Guava paste - a gellied sweet made with guava fruit
Our students are learning ways to apply their foreign language knowledge in real world settings.

They are also discovering that learning can be tasty too!
