St. Mary Teachers Attend Apple and iLife Training

On Thursday, October 23rd, our five St. Mary middle school teachers and music teacher began an Apple adventure—touring the most popular destinations and iLife tools on their MacBook computers. Joining our St. Mary teachers were guest educators from Messmer High School, St. Thomas Moore High School and Mother of Good Counsel.

The ‘teachers-turned-students’ for the day, walked away from class more familiar with MacBook tools such as Safari (web browser), PhotoBooth and iPhoto (image maker and organizer), and GarageBand (music and podcast creation).

All of these tools promise to infuse future class lessons with valuable interaction, engaging multi-sensory impact, and wide ranging educational resources.  By the end of the six-hour session our teachers proudly shared with the rest of the class their very first podcast!

Good luck to our teachers as they continue building their new skills. Completing this initial training is another step forward on our Technology Forward journey.

Thank you St. Mary teachers for your hard work.  Thanks to the substitute teachers who supported this effort, to our principal Linda Joyner for arranging the opportunity and to volunteer Barb Bailey who single-handedly equipped the computer lab for training.
