I'm Just Saying

Kimberly is a thirty-something gal who grew up in Sussex, gave city life a try, decided she wanted something inbetween and moved her family to Menomonee Falls. She's been married for 11 years, has a seven year old daughter, works in the family business, and is pursuing her master's degree in business administration (almost done!). She enjoys doing anything that keeps her from doing what she is supposed to be doing, and has aspirations to wake up one day and find that she's (suddenly and through no fault of her own) a big-time writer.

Destination: Riviera Maya

In a couple of weeks I'm going to Mexico for the first time, my destination is Riviera Maya which is on the Caribbean Sea. I'm very excited! My husband, not so much. He's excited to be going on vacation, but it's the getting there and the coming home that's he's not looking forward to. While I'm edgy when I fly, he's absolutely terrified, and is having anxiety attacks over the thought of getting on the airplane. Twice.

The last time we were on a plane was in September of 2000 and we went to Nassau, Florida on a Disney Cruise. It was the only time we flew together as a couple, and as he's gotten older, and of course now that he's a father, it's harder for him to face this. The time is coming soon though, and we'll both have to face the fear together. Do you have any suggestions on how to subside the anxiety and panic?

Are you planning any vacations to a warmer place this winter? And for those of you who have been to Riviera Maya, what do you recommend for excursions and site seeing?

We went to the Riviera Maya last Jan. with the whole family, the kids are 16 and 17.  It is a great destination since it is only a 2 hour flight.  Make sure you sign up for a private transfer, don't take a bus to your resort, it will be a better ride.  We did a snorkelling tour with Adventuras.  The cenotes in that area are beautiful.  The tour was the best ever!  Our guide was wonderful.  The town of Playa del Carmen is also a good excursion.  It is a quaint town with shopping by local vendors, you get a feel of the Mexican people.  Hope you have a great trip!

So as you know we've been to Mexico a handful of times.  I've never been to Riviera Maya, but if it is anywhere near the Mayan ruins, you have to go see that.  It is BEAUTIFUL! and the history is so interesting.  Also for Peter flying, you should have him call either his doctor, or up at Jerome Drugs and see if they can suggest anything.  I have a friend who hates flying and just gets a couple anti-anxiety pills for their trip.  I know there's other stuff out there as well.  Hope you have a wonderful time.  I'm so jealous!!
