In the Race

Now, here, you see, it takes all the blogging I can do to keep in the same place.
If I want to get somewhere else, I must blog twice as fast as that!
You see, I'm in the Red Queen's Race...

Why Can't We Have a Structure Like This in Franklin?

By Janet Evans

Name: Beijing Olympic Stadium
Scheduled inauguration:
2008
Building costs: $500 million
Capacity:
80,000 seats (100,000 during the Olympic games)

Why?  Because we're not Beijing . . . .

We're Franklin, Wisconsin . . ..

We can't have all the structures and buildings that other cities have,

nor should we . . . .

Maybe we need to stop comparing Franklin to every other city and stop

trying to be a WANNABE ....

and instead just be WHAT WE NEED TO BE!

In the meantime .... Beijing National Stadium or Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium ....
 is pretty cool, huh?

Maybe we could model a new Franklin High School football stadium after it ....

Nah .... too many taxpayers would be "unglued" ....  (I hope)!

I know one blogger that would think that it is a perfect design for a Von Maur in the "Civic Center" of course.

Bryan ....  You do?

Now, who could THAT be????

I guess it would be the same person who said:

"I sincerely think some bloggers misunderstand the motives behind Franklin residents' determination for better-designed building. I get this hint after reading a recent entry mocking residents about designs - saying we'd demand an "Olympic" designed stadium."

and this:

"So for people to talk "bad" about what residents have done for Franklin, just shows how truly ungrateful some people can be. I hope those "haters" will enjoy their new Target, as well as every new well-designed development in Franklin in the future."

Janet are you a hater?

Looks like that blogger has to 'piggy back" yet another blog off of one of you other bloggers.  Guess he didn't appreciate your valid point, Janet

"Some credit Greg for working extremely hard at fighting [f]or the best in Franklin, and at times is partially credited for helping to secure one of the finest designs for Franklin's first Target store."

Bryan,

I guess I am not entitled to have my very own, personal opinion as a blogger.  I don't recall "mocking" any Franklin "RESIDENT'S in my blog above.

Wait a minute.... let me read it again ... No, I clearly did not mock any Franklin residents in my blog.

I don't recall talking "bad" about what "residents have done for Franklin" in my blog either.

Am I ungrateful?   To whom?  To Greg Kowalski for (wait, let me read the quote again, just a minute ...

(oh, Greg, this quote above is from your bio, so you might want to add the "f" to for in it) ... O.K., Am I ungrateful to Kowalski for fighting for the best designs for our first Target store?

O.K.  Let me think for a minute.... pausing, pausing, pausing, pausing....

O.K., I'm so very grateful. Yes I am.  There, I said it.

Am I a "hater?"  Where the hell does that even come from?  Kowalski and his Lone Ranger fan seem to use that word quite a bit.  I'm not a hater.  Do you see that in my words in my blogs?  If so, please point them out to me.

I have dislikes, that's for sure.  I have a right to those.

Do I want nice buildings in Franklin?  Sure, some of them.  In the right spots.  I love Sendik's.  Is the Target killing me?  No.  Is it where I would have put one? No.  Do I not sleep at night because of it?  No.

I sleep less at night because I worry about how I am going to pay my taxes!

You’re welcome, Kowalski, for another inspiration for a blog post.  Enjoy the  “hits!”

P.S.

Greg ....  you have been told by other bloggers you have a "thin-skin."  I join the "ranks" in saying the same thing.

You see, in most cases, when you are older, you've lived through more.  You have more experience with life, death, hardship, WORK, raising children (for some).  My skin is much thicker.
