About That Road To E-Government

By Janet Evans

from Wikipedia

So, it took Bob Hope and Bing Crosby 22 years to complete the “Road to Singapore" (1940,) “Road to Zanzibar " (1941,) “Road to Morocco" (1942,) “Road to Utopia" (1945,) “Road to Rio” (1947,) “Road to Bali” (1952,), and “Road to Hong Kong” (1962).

That “Road To E-Government?”

Well, the September 19, 2008 Technology Commission Video/Audio Sub-Committee meeting may give you some insight as to how long that road will be until it will be completed; or maybe not.  You’ll have to decide for yourself.

Here is the Agenda for the meeting.

My podcast is broken into six parts and begins as discussion started in Item III on the agenda.  Also, I left the meeting at approximately 7:00 p.m., at the end of Item IV.  I was informed the meeting lasted until 7:10 p.m.

Oh, and to save some time, I may as well put this here…

City of Franklin Volunteer Fact Sheet

Glad to have you volunteer to donate those items Citizen Janet. It will help shave off that little bit over 3% the Mayor is proposing for the tax increase on the budget this year.

Say how come you didn't bring this up during the Citizen Comment period at the last council meeting. I am sure Tom Taylor would have offered to pay what ever difference between your donation and the cost for the rest of the equipment. Because as you well know there is more than one meeting going on in city hall on a regular basis so multiple units need to be purchased along with one that works with the current audio system in the City Council chambers.

Possibly you might want to fill out a complaint form against the Technology Commission for dragging their feet. Maybe they will suspend all that pay for the time they donate to the city. Oh wait nothing from nothing leaves nothing. :)

No, I didn't "donate" those items, Bryan.  I was just listing the cost of my items, for a reference point.

And once again, you have to bring up the fact that a Commission "donates" their time.  Yes, we all realize that.  It is a volunteer position.  That is what a volunteer does; donates time.

Complaint?  No, I have no complaint to issue.  You must realize that when you serve the public, you need to be open for criticism, and for praise.  Usually, though, the way things go, you often hear more from the public when things aren't going their way.  But I'm sure you know that.
