The same tired old anti-gun argument

At the end of each InterCHANGE, the pundit panel roundtable discussion program I’m a guest on every week on Milwaukee Public Television Channel 10, columnist Rick Horowitz offers a commentary. Horowitz (a good guy but extremely liberal) usually bashes the President or rants on another lefty perspective for two minutes, then host Dan Jones says goodnight, and the closing credits roll.

The panel, or at least its conservative members, never gets the opportunity to respond to Horowitz’s preposterous statements.

Imagine if the situation was reversed, and a conservative got two minutes of uncontested, unchallenged air-time every week. The libs would be apoplectic.

On this week’s edition, Horowitz pulled an oldie but not a goodie from the liberal playbook: the same old tired lament about guns.

In a liberal’s mind, it’s never the rotten, evil person who pulled the trigger to commit violence who is to blame. No, the problem is the inanimate object.

Horowitz said in his commentary that,”Every gunman is a potential mass murderer.”

That is outrageously false, absurd, and insulting to the millions of law-abiding decent citizens who exercise their constitutional rights by owning guns.

It reminds me of a similarly ridiculous comment made after former Indiana University basketball coach Bobby Knight told Connie Chung during an interview, "If rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it.” As offensive as Knight’s comment was, so was a feminist’s response that, “Every man is a potential rapist.”

Or, if he owns a gun, a potential mass murderer if you ask Rick Horowitz.

Just a few days ago, I blogged about one teacher’s crusade to be allowed to carry a gun in school.

I believe that momentum for this idea, considered crazy if one only applies a knee-jerk reaction, will slowly start to build.

Author and talk show host Doug Giles just wrote a column on this very topic. Giles writes:

As far as I’m concerned, a responsible and trained teacher should ab-so-frickin’-lutely be able to carry on campus. And none of this “concealed weapons” crap. I’m talking about visibly carrying their piece on their hip. And not just one but two massive nickel-plated S&W Model 29 .44 magnums with 7 1/2 inch barrels with bandoliers thrown around their shoulders, and next to their juicy apple and pencil jar on their desk they should have a mounted .50 cal. machine gun. You know…“just in case.”

Here’s his entire column.

The criminals already have and will always be able to get their hands on guns. Let’s even up the odds and give innocent, law-abiding citizens a fighting chance.

Because guns don’t kill people. Really bad people with guns do.

Using Rick's logic and the shootings in Crandon by an officer of the law. We have lots of potential mass murderers wearing badges.

The gun issue is a real problem. There are good arguments on both sides. If we have guns all over the place we will probably have a reduction in some crime but an increase in other crime. Less bank robberies if everyone has a gun on them, but more shootings by the nutcases the drunks the druggers and hubby & wife cheaters when they get over emotional about there life problems. Probably life as a law officer will be more dangerous. I would suspect criminals will also be more violent at the onset of a crime to reduce the possibility of the victim defending themself. But maybe criminals will think twice about commiting some crimes.

This is another abortion type issue.

Here's a solution.

Maybe the first six months of the year abortions are legal and people can carry guns and the last six months no baby killing or gun toting.(After all it will be the Christmas season)

Ditto from me.  I have been thinking the same thing for HTC and Unfettered Candor with comments that are non-stop, make no sense, and those two ALWAYS have to have the last word.

HTC it is perfectly clear now why Cindy from Brookfield banned you from her blogs (under your name South of the Border).

Cindy doesn't like non-conservative views and does her best to shut them down. I made Cindy look silly a few times and she doesn't like that. Cindy likes to spout off but does not like to have to defend her view. Hmmmmmmmmmmm sounds like this is common in the conservative world ?

Personally I'm glad all these  conservative attack dogs keep showing the public their ridiculous true colors. Keep going with the insults guys it makes you look childish.

No, you think those are the reasons you wer banned.  You see, it was most likely for the same reason you just aren't wanted here.  You are like a hemorrhoid . . . a big pain in the ass.  You are just ruining the blog experience for everyone.  You go to read a blog and look down and think, "Oh, no.  Another comment that doesn't make sense from "Had to Have the Last Comment."

These aren't insults.  They are statements. The only one looking "childish" around here is you.

No Phil it works like this. I make a comment about a topic and guys like you make a comment about me. It's done to any non-conservative on this and other blogs that are conservative dominated. Make your comments about the topic and knock off your SUPER CHILDISH behavior. Maybe your Cindy ? (That's a joke Phil, don't get all worked up over that now.)

And you, HTC are the typical Left Wing hypocrite as shown in your last comment where you state you make comments, but then attacks are made on you.  You did the exact same thing you are speaking of.

And from your latest comments on different topics, you are showing you are really losing it.  Look above.  This blog is not about abortion.

So now, go ahead, and be the hypocrite you are.  I'm waiting.

Betty, if you couldn't tell my comment with the abortion statement in it wasn't a tongue in cheek statement and part of my gun comment, well, what can I say Betty. Please stop addressing me or my comments and perhaps make some comments of your own about the topic instead. I actually have no desire other than to express a viewpoint on the bloggers entries. Leave me alone and you will generally only see one comment from me on blog entries that interest me. For those who hate my non-conservative viewpoints please don't read my comments.

HTC - there you have it.  You liberals love to say the word hate.  Nobody else does in these blogs.  You have Kowalski, Unfettered and you.  That's all.

And who uses the word ABORTION tongue-in-cheek in the first place?

I don't think this is your blog.   When you have one, perhaps then you may tell people they don't have to read your comments.  Just like your best bud Kowalski does.

Josie.........I'd like to respond to your comments but they have nothing to do with the topic so I won't.
