: ESPN quotes a New England Patriots player that QB and MVP Tom Brady is lost for the rest of the season.

 Nightmare come true

I’m not a New England Patriots fan. They’re so good they don’t need to cheat, but they cheat anyway. Tom Brady is a phenomenal player, arguably the best QB in the NFL.

Brady screamed as he was hit low by Kansas City’s Bernard Pollard in today’s game against the Chiefs. As I write, Brady is probably done. New England is already scrambling to decide who replaces their ace.

The argument Monday across the sports nation will be whether Pollard’s hit on Brady was clean or not.

Randy Moss, one of Brady’s key targets says it was dirty. Pollard, of course, defends himself.

I saw the replay, and while intent is impossible to prove, Pollard went low, right for the knee. If I had to voice an opinion one way or the other, I'd say it was dirty. No penalty was called, but even if it had been, that’s 15 yards. New England now gets penalized 15 games.

Vince Lombardi once bemoaned, “The knee, the knee. Why is it always the knee?”

New England didn’t just lose today, the entire NFL lost.

Brady’s injury changes the complexion of the entire season. Suddenly in the AFC, San Diego, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Jacksonville all pick up ground. So do teams in the AFC East, including the Brett Favre-led New York Jets.

The Jets have their home opener next Sunday against guess who?

My, my, my.

Brady IS the best QB in the NFL hands down.  And probably will should be considered the best in history once his career is over.  That being said, that shot he took was legit.  Pollard has nothing to apologize for.

One suspects that the NFL will soon change the rules about tackling QB's--too late, of course.

Let's hope this doesn't happen to Favre (or any others) this year...

I agree that the NFL will look into changing the rules regarding tackling QB's after this incident (yet again).  Maybe this time they will allow QB's to wear yellow jerseys and rule a QB is sacked when the defender touches the QB with 2 hands.

Quarterbacking in the NFL is bad for your health.  Always has been and always will be.  That's why they get paid the big bucks.
