Wag the Dog

Why does a dog wag its tail? Because a dog is smarter than its tail. If the tail was smarter, the tail would wag the dog! An old joke that applys to today.

Kevin Fischer is Crazy

Crazy Like a Fox that is!

In the past month while I have been on hiatus, I have watched 10 to 12  bloggers write multiple blog postings about him and his "Crazy Right Wing antics" all culminated by a Milwaukee Magazine article which bloggers are still posting about.

FranklinNOW blogger Greg Kowalski had no idea he was promoting Kevin Fischer when he wrote his now infamous post Actions have Consequences where he lists the following blogs that did stories on Fischer:  Musings of a Thoughtful Conservative ,  Folkbum's Rambles and Rants,  Wigderson Library & Pub, Real Debate Wisconsin, Pundit Nation, Inside New Berlin, Whallah! , Blue Racine,  Fairly Conservative,  Blogging Blue.

The most vocal of these has been Cindy Kilkenny,  a former BrookfieldNOW blogger and Brookfield Mayor “wannabe Cindy has blogged on her “Fairly Conservative” © personal blog not less than 14 times about Fischer since January of this year, in an attempt to get him fired as a Legislative Assistant to Senator Mary Lazych. Kilkenny has a strange affinity to helping young, impressionable bloggers like Kowalski and Shawn Matson formerly of BrookfieldNOW but now following in the steps of his mentor Kilkenny on his own personal blog too.

More recent exposure has been given to Fischer in a Milwaukee Magazine article which local blogger John Michlig's - Sprawled Out blog (which contains 3 recent postings about Fischer) and Greg Kowalski's "I'm in Milwaukee Magazine" have brought to the blogsphere chronicling the tenuous blog relationship that Greg and Kevin have going over a blog where Fischer called Kowalski "Cheesecake Breath". This was in reference to Greg's multiple blogs promoting the Cheesecake Factory coming to Franklin.

WOW - If people did not know who Kevin Fischer was from his stints on WISN and Channel 10's  INTERchange they will now.  You can't buy this kind of exposure. Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh had his Oxycontin exposure and is still a major conservative mainstay while shock jock, Don Imus was dropped from his nationally CBS syndicate show due to his racial slur comments only to pick up a sweet multi year syndication contract with ABC late last year.

The Milwaukee Magazine article states:

Mark Maley, the CNI executive who oversees the NOWWeb sites, doesn't see a serious problem. "Even with the skirmishes, nobody's been sued," he says. "It's basically been a handful of people tossing mud. There's been some online behavior that I'm not thrilled about, but the vast, vast majority is pretty positive stuff." Even some of the people involved in the verbal duels have also engaged in enterprising work, like airing details of community development projects or conducting open-records requests for officials' e-mails.

But bad journalism might be what the readers want. "I'm not crazy about it," Maley says. "But the FranklinNOW site has rapidly become our No. 2 Web site rather than 6 or 7."

That is because, thanks to all the FREE publicity, Kevin's blog is getting from other blogers, he is getting record hits on his "This Just In ... " NOW site and Mr. Maley is taking that to the bank.

Kevin has just announced that he will be filling in more on WISN radio and is in private negotiations for the expansion of his roll on WISN Radio 1130.  For those of you not familiar with this type of vague announcement, Mike Gousha spoke of expanded rolls on a local station too, during speaking engagements right before he was back on TV at WISN Channel 12.

Do you think that WISN Radio 1130, an extremely conservative station, would expand his role, if Kevin's opinions did not produce revenue for their station?

That he is/will be attracting the conservative listener just like Mark Belling, Vicki McKenna, Jay Webber and yes Rush Limbaugh is, while this "Get Kevin Mob" has attracted even more listeners.

Does this mean that Kevin will be departing from employment with Senator Lazych?  Not according to a comment he made on "Wigderson's Library & Pub" blog.

As for comments that Kevin Fischer is "the devil on my shoulder", Kevin writes my blog, I am part of the evil "Team Fischer" and do his biding (yes master), Kevin hijacks my blog, I support Kevin unconditionally, and that I agree with everything Kevin says, are all untrue.

What is the truth is I am a personal friend of Kevin Fischer (personal friends sometimes disagree on issues) and he is laughing because the "Get Kevin Mob" has been .........

Bryan I'm in agreement that recent events will lead to more exposure.  It always does.  So what.  Believe it or not, most people don't measure a person's credibility by the number of hits they're daily blog gets.

Once again, you spent 14 paragraphs avoiding the reason that this is an issue.  To date, Kevin Fischer or anyone associated with Fischer or Senator Lazich have failed to publicly acknowledge or refute that blogs written by Fischer or comments made by Fischer on other blogs were written while on government time.  This issue is of particular importance considering that Fischer happens to work as aide for a State Senator who has emphasized holding the line on government spending as a central theme of her administration.  Allowing such behavior to go on in Senator Lazich's adminstration (if true) could (and would) be conceived as blatant hypocricy, by her constituents who actually WANT to reduce government waste of taxpayer money.  Maybe the allegations aren't true, maybe they are, but it doesn't change the fact that constituents of Senator Lazich have the right to question whether this kind of conduct is tolerated in her administration (regardless if the person bringing forth the allegations has a personal score to settle).

BRAVO!  Well said, Bryan.  I guess Coulter was right; "If Democrats had any brains, they'd be Rebublicans.

Josh - When it comes to selling ones self for other aspirations, other than an Aide to Mary Lazych(the Reason for my posting) numbers do count. As I said, Mark Mally can't change his rates on advertising for something that is not viewed. He does not care about credibility just numbers.

When it comes to the broadcast media and gaining listenership, exposure does count. When local bloggers with personal websites want to sell advertising or just beat their breasts because want to be read, numbers do count.

Don't you believe for a moment that Kevin believes everything he writes.

He writes to get reaction and people have played into that.

Cindy - I have deleted your comment - Your comments are not welcome here and will not be published as this is a Franklin Community blog. Your comments continue to do nothing but cause problems on FranklinNOW.

Had To Comment - I have deleted your comment - Threatening language will not tolerated on this blog. I am trying to mend fences here.

And there's no question that numbers count in that regard.  I agree completely Bryan.  People are made famous (or more famous) all the time over contraversy similiar to this.  Many people, especially entertainers, thrive on it.  That's fine.  But Kevin Fischer's entertainer status on WISN doesn't matter in the least on this issue.  It's his involvement as aide to a State Senator that's the problem.  Your blog seems to imply that people interested in getting the truth about this issue shouldn't speak their mind because it only adds fuel to the fire.   Nothing could be farther from the truth in my opinion, regardless of the buzz (positive or negative) it creates.  I think to many people, this issue isn't as personal in nature as your friends like to think.  It's more about whether or not our State Senator practices what she preaches.  Many constituents of Senator Lazich would like to know the answer to this question before election time comes around.

Holy crap!  Strupp actually counted your paragraphs, Bryan.  Amazing.

I'll say one thing for the guy, he's an "original."

Where is the evidence from Strupp or anyone associated with the "Cindy Dumb-pling Gang," to support this continued assault on Fischer and Lazich?

This is REALLY driving them CRAZY!

Again...no answer.  Only rhetoric.

Josh

You and I will continue to have a differing opinion on this and this is healthy. I support 100% yours and any other Mary Lazich's constituents right not to vote for Mary next election. Even if it based on how she dealt with one of her aides personal blogs.

As my Alderman once told me when I said, I would remember how he voted on an issue next time he was up for re-election. "If you don't want to vote for me because of one issue and don't want to consider all the other things I have done, then please do so".

**** Note to Josh *****

I could not respond to your comment until just now.

Unlike other bloggers, I am employed full time and my employer does not allow me to blog.

Except maybe during my 1/2 hour lunch break, and then I have to wait for a open PC in our cybercafe'.

That's none of my business Bryan.  You don't work for the government.
