Wag the Dog

Why does a dog wag its tail? Because a dog is smarter than its tail. If the tail was smarter, the tail would wag the dog! An old joke that applys to today.

I might be a little late on this one but, during my Sabatical in the month of January I missed this little tidbit in the news.

Could our local FranklinNOW food critic be luring Cameron's Steakhouse to Franklin some time in the future? Has he been having private conversations with Cameron Mitchell too? After all Cameron Mitchell operates Mitchell’s Fish Market at Brookfield Square Mall.

Or given all the hype of "upscale dining" at the affluent Bayshore Town Center, would the push for "upscale dining" here in Franklin tank also?

If Cameron's could not make a go of it on the affluent North side what chances does Franklin have, for anything other than a Golden Corral.

The Rafters may not be “upscale” enough for the “discriminating diner,” but for my money, I’ll cross the street into Oak Creek any day for their filet mignon and fried eggplant.

Granted, the Dimiceli family has “only” been in business for fifty-some years or so, but I like supporting locally-owned, family businesses.

I have absolutely no idea why Cameron’s failed, but I’ll go out on a limb and say their food probably sucked!  But I could be wrong…

To quote the article "The late Dennis Getto, wasn't a fan of Cameron's. He gave it two stars, said the entrées weren't that great, and said Milwaukee-area diners could find a better value elsewhere in town."

But there are those in this city, that believe "Upscale" and "Bayshore" are synonymous with good food. I believe you (and many others) have found not only great entrées but a great value in The Rafters with a local flavor to boot.

Now if we could get a real Mexican restaurant like La Fuente instead of Gus's Gut-Bombs, well ......
